All About Me

BBC One

3 Series of 8 × 30 minutes
2002 – 2004

All About Me centres on the Craddock family, who are certainly a far cry from the usual perfect sitcom family. But although they may be unconventional, they are certainly not extraordinary – this is a story about people dealing with the realities of modern day family life, with second marriages and step kids, and all the attendant problems and happiness that those relationships bring. At the head of the family is Colin Craddock (Jasper Carrott), a divorcee with two children. Until three years ago Colin was very set in his ways and rather old fashioned in his views. Then he met Rupinder (Meera Syal and then played by Nina Wadia in Series 2 and 3), an Asian divorcee with two children. The two of them fell in love and married, with both families living under the same recently repaired roof. And to complicate matters further, Rupinder’s twelve-year-old son Raj, has cerebral palsy.

Described by the BBC as one of the bravest commissions in the channel’s history, this groundbreaking situation comedy is a hilarious yet realistic portrayal of 21st century family life.
A big mouthed builder with a warm heart, an Asian divorcee with a severely disabled son, and a half built house full of step brothers and sisters – this is certainly a sitcom with a difference.
